LX: Basic electrical concepts:

Atomic Structure of Gold
ELECTRICITY:

Transfer of energy through the motion of charge carrying electrons.

ELECTRON DRIFT:

Copper,Gold and Silver are all good conductors of electricity because their outer electrons are weakly bound and it is easier to pull them from orbit.
When an external force such as VOLTAGE is applied then this pulls the outer electrons from their orbit.

CURRENT

Electrical Current
Current is the flow of electrons that results in the transfer of energy, however this can only be accomplished by having a completed circuit.
Current is measured in Amperes and is represented in formulas by the letter 'I'

 RESISTANCE
OMEGA

Resistance is the opposite to the flow of electrons, to which this is measured by Ohms. Ohms is represented in formulas by the Greek symbol OMEGA. Resistance is increased with heat and cable length. This is inversely proportional to cable size, which means that the smaller the cross sectional area of a cable is, the higher the resistance will be.

OHM'S LAW

Ohm's Law is one of the most important electrical formulas that you would need to know. Ohm's Law expresses the relationship between the 3 concepts of Voltage (V), Current (I) and Resistance (OMEGA)

OHM'S LAW STATES THAT V=IxR
